About the Speaker
Alex Castillo began his career as a Brand Assistant in Procter & Gamble Philippines in 1970. At Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company, from 1974 to 1980, he was Brand Manager, then Plant General Manager and Market Development Manager. In 1980 he joined Warner-Lambert Philippines to become Vice President, Consumer Products Division. He joined Del Monte, Philippines, Inc. in October of 1982, beginning as Market Director, Philippines. He was appointed President on June 1, 2000. His brainchild, Del Monte Kitchenomics, still exists today.
In 1988, he copped the Agora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Management. Under his leadership, Del Monte also copped the Award for Excellence in Marketing Management at the 1991 Management Awards held annually by the World Executive’s Digest, Asian Institute of Management and Japan Air Lines.
In 2003, under his leadership, Del Monte Philippines won the Employer of the Year Award from the Personnel Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), the only company in the country to have won this award three times.
Alex has served as a member of the Content Regulation Committee of the Philippine Board of Advertising, and as director of the Philippine Association of National Advertisers.
He holds an AB-Economics degree from the Ateneo de Manila University, graduating with honors in 1970. He has attended many top management programs, notably the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and INSEAD’s Avira Program in Pebble Beach, California.
He is also a strategic planning consultant, an executive coach and a leadership and management seminar content developer for Catalyst 360, a Training and Consultancy Company.
Alex and his wife Lelo have been married for 39 years and have four grown children.
